YOUTH -GROUP For some meetings the group has been reading and discussing Mr Willis Airey’s book “ Onward,” and last Saturday members gave the gist of the chapters, “ Internationalism and Cosmopolitanism,” “ The Absentees from the League,” and that on “Arbitration, Security and Disarmament,” bringing their information as far up to date as possible since the book’s publication. The subjects were somewhat wide for the time available, but they proved a very interesting ground for discussion. The chief points that arose concerned the status of various members inside the League, such as Russia and the smaller Powers and the attitude of the United States to the League. The United States was a member of the 1.L.0., and, without the financial assistance of the citizens, such as the Rockfeller Corporation, many of the League’s activities would have been restricted, especially in the direction of health and humanitarian undertakings. President Roosevelt had indicated willingness for closer connection, while Professor Hudson, of Harvard, stated that the United States must inevitably join the League of Nations. To-night the speaker will be Mr A. B. Powell, a well-known Communist adherent.
