(Peb United Pees? Association) AUCKLAND. July 19. A young man, an Australian, stowed away on the steamer Kairanga at Newcastle, and was arrested when the vessel arrived at Auckland this evening. The Kairanga proceeded from Newcastle to Sydney to complete loading, and the stowaway remained hidden among coils of fencing wire on the shelter deck until the vessel had left Sydney.

The Timaru Harbour Board, by nine votes to four, to-day adopted the report of the special committee v*»ich recommended the adoption of the liarbuor improvement scheme as suggested by the harbour master.
