DEATH OF MR T, HANNON Mr Thomas Hannon, licensee of Chick’s Hotel, died early on Sunday morning after a short illness. He took over the hotel about three years ago, and previously was licensee of the Bowling Green Hotel, Dunedin, for two years. Mr Hannon was born at .Oamaru and educated at St. Patrick’s School. After leaving school he entered the service of the Railways Department at Oamaru, and was subsequently transferred x to Ohakune Junction, where he was employed as signal adjuster for 15 years. He then left the railway service to take over the Glencoe Hotel at Glenavy, where he resided for some time before coming to Dunedin. Mr Hannon was a keen Rugby footballer in his young days at Oamaru and a staunch supporter of the code up to the time of his death. His father was licensee of the White Hart Hotel, Oamaru, over 50 years ago. Mr Hannon is survived by three sisters, who had always been associated with him in the hotel business, and one brother. The funeral will take place at Oamaru today. VITAL STATISTICS A feature of the vital statistics registered in Port Chalmers during the halfyear ended on June 30 was the increase in the number of births and the decrease in the deaths registrations, as compared with the figures for the first six months in 1934. During the month of June births and deaths showed a decrease compared with the figures for June last year. Last month’s registrations are as follows:—Births 1, deaths 2, marriages 1. The figures for June last year were;— Births 2, deaths 3, marriages nil. The following table shows the returns for the half-year ended on Sunday, compared with the figures for the corresponding period last year; —
