FOREIGNERS NOT WANTED
*3b At Bucharest last month a Rumanian member of the Shell group was fined £20,000 for employing foreigners in excess of the authorised quota. The company’s employees are chiefly British and Dutch, and Hie fine is the heaviest that has yet been imposed for transgression o f the labour regulations. It marks the beginning of a drastic campaign for the restriction of the employment of aliens in 'Rumania, even by foreignowned companies. By way of setting an example to all employers in Rumania, the announcement of the fine was broadcast in all wireless programmes. British companies, which have considerable capital invested in Rumania, and particularly in the oil industry, are seriously affected by the labour regulations.
