THE WEATHER
A south-west (rale, accompanied by rain, sleet, and hail showers, prevailed yesterday. The conditions were cold and wintry, the temperature at 8 a.rn. being 37 degrees, and the maximum for the day 41 degrees. The barometer had a slight rising tendency, and registered 29.50 in at 4 p.m. REPORTS FROM THE NORTH. (Special.to Daily Times) ' ; AUCKLAND, July 1. A fresh south-west wind and cloudy and unsettled weather prevailed to-day, •showers being experienced during the early morning. : The barometer is rising, and now registers 29.75 in. CHRISTCHURCH, July 1. The weather, to-day was fine and calm in the morning, but a strong south-west wind blew in the afternoon, increasing to gale force in the evening. The maximum temperature was 51,4 degrees. The barometer is rising, and now registers 29.82 in. WELLINGTON, July 1.. After some light early morning rain the sky rapidly cleared and the day was fine and sunny. It wag practically calm in the morning, -while a moderate northerly wind blew during the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 53.3 degrees. __________
