The Palmerston branch of the W.D.F.U. met in the Central Hotel on Friday, June 28, Mrs D. Ross presiding. A report of the provincial conference held in Dunedin in June was given by Mrs D. Ross (president). The roll call was "My favourite flower and why.” The programme was a competition by Mrs Ballingall and a demonstration, “Papier Mnche” work, given by Mrs J. Craig. Hostesses were Mesdames Sutherland, Service, Twaddle, and Miss Coutts.

The Alexandra branch met on Thursday evening, Mrs Timmings presiding. A lecture was given by Dr Gladstone, his subject being “ First-aid.” Mrs i’imminge and Mrs Iversen, delegates to the recent conference in Dunedin, spoke of the conference and told of their experiences during their visit. A shortbread competition was won by Mrs _ Downes, with Mrs Lindup second. Miss Mary Russell won the story the hostesses were Mesdames M’Ginnis, Nightingale, Norwood, and O’Kane, and Miss R. Miller.

Maniototo branch met in the Fenton Library. The motto was “To get we must give,” and the roll call,, “ Pay your subs.” The competition, “An article from an ounce of wool,” resulted in Mrs F. Mathais being first, Mrs Malcolm second, and Mrs Lonie third, Dr Eucly gave a lecture on “ First Aid.” The hostesses were Mesdames J. Little, R. Gibson, and 'Greer, and Miss Greer.

On June 26, at the residence of Mrs F. C. Morgan, the St. Bathans branch met. Mrs Jones and Mrs Mee, delegates to the conference, gave descriptions of the conference and its aims. A discussion on a play, “Rest Cure,’’ followed Mesdames Morgan, Jones, and Mee were hostesses.

The Hillend branch met in the hall on Wednesday, June 26. Mrs T, Gordon presided, and gave a report on the activities of the recent provincial conference. The hostesses were Misses Bishop and Moir.
