JAINTING —Consult us re subsidy allov ance; concessions on both labour ar material. —Smith and Smith, Ltd. How a carrier pigeon, pursued, by a military aeroplane, betrayed the authors of a kidnapping threat vas revealed, in the Correctional Court at Nivelles (Brabant), when Augtiste Craps and his brother-in-law were conditionally sentenced t.i five months' imprisonment. An industrialist named Jacobs, of Braine--I'Alleud, near Waterloo, found in his garden a basket containing a carrier pigeon and a letter ordering him to release the bird with a ransom of 5000 francs ittached to it. If this was not done, said the letter, one of Jacobs's children would be kidnapped. Jacobs informed the police, and a counter plan was worked out. From the top of the village church Jacobs liberated the pigeon, and a military plane pursued it to its home in Coutre St. Germain. ! Its owners were immediately denounced.
