KUROW NOTES

BASKETBALL. The first round of the Waitaki Hydro Women's Basketball Pennant Competition was played on Saturday last. The scores were as follows:—Kiwis one goal, Tuis nil; Wekag one goal, Magpies nil. The second round will be played to-day, when the draw is as Wlows: —Kiwis v. Magpies, 2.30 p.m.; Wekas v. Tuis, 3.5 p.m. EUCHRE PARTY. A very enjoyable euchre party was held in the T.M.C.A. Hall on Tuesday last. The winners were as follows: —Women's section, Mrs Claridge 1, Mrs Anderson 2; men's section, Mr W. Hunt 1, Mr Logan 2. The proceeds were in aid of the Waitaki Hydro branch of the New Zealand Labour Party*. After the game a very enjoyable- supper was supplied by the ladies. BILLIARDS TOURNAMENT. A keenly-contested billiards tournament was held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall on Monday last, when 28 players participated. The-following were the winners:—Mr H. Valentine 1, Mr W. Austin 2, Mr A. Morrow 3. The prizes were presented by Mr F.,8. Bignell at the conclusion of the matches. An enjoyable snooker tournament was held recently in the Y.M.C.A. Hall. Waitaki Hydro. The following were successful in carrying off the trophies:—Messrs 0. Claridge and T. Atkins 1, W. 8. Cameron and A. Adams 2, J. R. Henderson and H. Valentine 3. EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. Another very successful euchre party and dance was conducted by the committee of the Kurow Memorial Hall on Wednesday last. In all, 48 players participated. The following were the winners:—Mr B. Kelk, Mr B. Joyce, Mrs W. Robinson, Mrs M. Lawlor, Mrs W. Menziea, Mrs W. Hope. The consolation prize was won by Mrs J. Lousley. After an enjoyable supper dancing was indulged in. Miss N. Nye's orchestra supplied the music, and Mr C. A. Maude carried out the duties of M.C.
