OBITUARY

DR J. J. EDGAR Dr John James Edgar, a very old and highly respected resident of Napier, where he liad. practised for many years, died on Monday morning, at the age of 65 years. Educated at Glasgow and Edinburgh Universities, Dr Edgar obtained his first diplomas in 1896 and graduated M. 8., CM., in 1899. In 1901 he settled in Napier, and commenced practice in partnership with the late Dr de Lisle, and later took over that practice on his own account. During the war period Dr Edgar was surgeon of the Napier Hospital, and in the earthquake period he did valuable work in connection with that institution. MR FREDERICK ARTHUR HOOK LONDON, June 26. The death is . announced of Mr Frederick Arthur Hook; aged 71 years. Mr Hook filled various positions in connection with the mercantile marine, and was founder and editor of the wellknown nautical monthly, " The Blue Peter."
