WOOL RESEARCH
THE TORRIDON STATION VISITED BY MR FORBES (Supplied and released by the New Zealand Government.) LONDON, June 20. A narticularly interesting feature of Mr G. W. Forbes's visit to the wool industries' research station at Torridon (Leeds) was the extensive exhibit of yarn and unmanufactured materials illustrating the new process for the manufacture of unshrinkable wool fabrics. This process, which was developed at Torridon, is being thoroughly tried out on a considerable scale to explore its commercial possibilities, and if successful will be of great value both to producer and manufacturers. Another new fabric for upholstering motor cars has great possibilities, which are being explored, and samples are being sent to New Zealand.
The question of initiating a wool publicity campaign was discussed at length with wool experts. This subject is arousing interest, particularly in view of the American campaign now in progress. The general view appears to be that the time has arrived when serious consideration should be given to formulation of a plan of action.
