THE PRIME MINISTER

ACTIVITIES IN LONDON (From Our Own Correspondent.) (By Air Mail) LONDON, June 8. Mr and Mrs Forbes motored back to London from Lord Bledisloe's country home in Gloucestershire on the Sunday night, and. on Monday morning they witnessed the Trooping the Colour from the room of the Chief Lord of the Admiralty in Admiralty House. The Government Hospitality Committee arranged for a special stand at the Derby for the delegates from the dominions. This was just beside the Jockey Club stand, and the New Zealand party had an excellent view of the races. On Thursday Mr Forbes accepted an invitation from Mr P. Charnaud, who has been in New Zealand, to visit the Royal Sovereign pencil factory at Neasden. Yesterday he went to Cambridge, accompanied by Mr Neville Wright, to look over the Low Temperature Research Station. Afterwards he was the guest of Lord and Lady Rutherford, and had the opportunity of meeting New Zealand students and others. Meetings in connection with the trade negotiations have been in progress off and on throughout the week, and these, of course, have been attended by Mr Forbes, Mr Coates, and Sir James Parr. Invitations to visit Scotland and other parts of the north havp had to be declined in the meantime, but Mr Forbes intends to make a day trip to Stoke-on-Trent next Thursday, to open the Reciprocal Trade Campaign organised by the produce boards.
