BOWLING CLUB The annual meeting of the Port Chalmers Bowling Club was held last night in the pavilion, Mr P. C. Smith presiding. Moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the chairman thanked the members, the committee, the secretary and the ladies for their support during the year. The secretary had been a great help to him. It was satisfactory to be able to. state that the club was well represented at the various tournaments, and that the club's champion had performed exceptionally well in the Champion of Champions competition. The g/een, under the supervision of the Green Committee, received a great deal of attention during the year. Several members visited Merton to procure weed for the green. Good work was done in planting the weed by members, and the committee expressed its thanks to them. The greenkeeper ■ was to be complimented on the condition of the playing surface of' the green, and for the manner in which he attended to the surrounds. The balance sheet showed that the income last year amounted to £lB3 Us, and the expenditure to £194 6s 6d. During the year the committee purchased a new mower at a cost of £22 17s 6d. Altogether it could be said that the c}ub was in a sound position. Seconding the motion, Mr T. Anderson said the club had every. reason to be satisfied with the result of the past season's activities. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr D. Middleton; vice-president, Mr D. Matheson; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. Willmott; General Committee—Messrs P. W. Jenks, D. M'Lean, W. Lang, J. Thompson, W. Austin and R. Leftwitch; Billiards Committee —Messrs D. Middleton, E. Adams, F. Carter and D. Matheson; delegates to the Dunedin Bowling Centre, Messrs D. Middleton and W. G. Love; auditor, Mr J. Emerson. The prizes won last season were presented to the following:—Messrs C. •Timlin (Champion Singles), E. Adams (Handicap Singles), J. Knewstubb and C. Timlin (Pairs), D. M'Lean and A. Miller (Two-bowl Pairs), D. Middleton, F. Carter, R. Leftwitch and J. Emerson (Rinks). It was decided to compete in the Saturday interclub and other competitions next season.
