FORBURY PARK TROTTING CLUB

MEETING OF COMMITTEE A meeting of the committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club was held last night, and was attended by Messrs B S. Irwin (in the chair), H. Archbold, J. Black, T. Fogg, H. Halliday, D. C. Jolly, J. Mitchell, J. M. Samson, J. Trengrove, and A. G. Neill. The chairman said that this was a very sad occasion for the club, for it had lost one of its most valued members by the death of Mr R. W. M. Greenslade. Mr Greenslade became a member of the old Tahuna Park Trotting Club in 1906, and two years later had been elected to the committee. When the Forbury Park Club wan formed in 1909 Mr Greenslade was elected to the committee of the new body, and continued in office till 1930, when he was appointed vice-president. He retained this office until the time of his death, when he had served for 20 years, and was the oldest member of the committee, Mr Greenslade had been an ideal official, and the sympathy of all members of the club would go out to his family. It was improbable that there was any man connected with the sport who waa held in higher esteem, and every member knew that the affairs of the club were in proper hands when men such as Mr Greenslade governed it. The chairman also made reference to the death of Mr Phillip Ruston, who had been a member and a staunch supporter of the club. Motions of sympathy with the relatives were carried in the customary manner.

Mr J. R. M'Kenzie "wrote expressing regret that his horse Air Flow had caused trouble at the club's recent meeting. He was in sympathy with the committee in having; to disqualify Air Flow, particularly as she had started favourite, and many patrons had unfortunately lost their money.—The letter was received, the chairman remarking that it waß pleasing to receive a communication of this nature. The secretary submitted a balance sheet for the recent meeting, showing a satisfactory profit.—The balance sheet was adopted. B. A. Jarden and F. Farquharson applied for trainers', riders', and drivers licenses, and the meeting decided to forward the applications to the New Zealand Association with a favourable recommendation. A letter was received from the Isew Zealand Association expressing approval of the club's action at its recent meeting m disqualifying Air Flow in the Tahuna Handicap for galloping; deciding to take no action against A. M'Lellan, who was charged with interfering with the running of Wee Wrack in the Royal Handicap, and diqualifying for three months J. Behrns, driver of Wild Dreams, in the Southland Handicap, for interfering with Belle Derby.—The letter was received. The stipendiary steward (Mr F. J. Beer) forwarded a report on the recent meeting, indicating that he agreed with the decisions of the club in the charges against Air Flow and J. Behrns, butnot in the case of the charge against A. M'Lellan.—Received. There was some discussion on the question of dates for carnival week meeting in June, and in order to make the necessary arrangements for next year, a deputation, consisting of Messrs Halliday, Noill, and Black, was appointed towait on the Dunedin Jockey Club to discuss the matter.
