Edicts promulgated a thousand years ago were the grounds on which a finding was made that gave a French miller of Denain a verdict of 1,200,000 francs. His claim was against the Government for the loss of water that had kept his mill idle since ISOB. The case, which has been in progress for almost a quarter of a century, was recently decided in his favour. The finding was that the miller was justified in bringing suit, and awarded him 600,000 francs damages, and 700,000 francs interest for the period since 1911. when the suit was first filed.
