INTERNATIONAL HARRIER

SUCCESSES IN ENGLAND. A "hat trick" in international athletics has been accomplished by J. T Holden, of the Tipton Harriers, England. For the third consecutive year Holden has finished first in the International Cross-country Championship. His time for this year's race over a course of approximately nine miles and a-quarter —the course included three laps of the fiat racing track at the Auteuil racecourse, Paris, four laps of the steeplechase track, and a straight finishing run of 300 yards—was 47min 52 l-ssec. Jean Bouin, French pre-war runner, was the only other man to win the international cross-country race three years in succession.
