GENERAL NEWS
At a meeting of the Dunedin Coursing Club, presided over by Mr B. S. Irwin, the report, as drawn up by the secretary, of the chib’s activities since it was reorganised was approved, and a vote of thanks was accorded the secretary for his work. A lengthy discussion took place in connection with the homing paddock to he formed on the chib’s plumpton at Forbury Park. —Mr Matheson reported that all the posts to form the plumpton were on the ground. . A vote of thanks was accorded Mr L. Carr, caretaker of the Forbury Park Trotting ground, for his assistance and advice in connection with several important matters on coursing and its appointments. A concert party, organised by Miss Pearl and Miss Agnes Westland and Mr A. MacDonald, assisted by members of First Church Glee Club, visited Montecillo Home on Wednesday evening. A varied programme was given, the following taking part: —Vocal solos—Misses Shrimpton, Roach, Burnard, Mrs Black, and Messrs Sullivan and Hanning; recitations —Miss Knox and Mr A. E. Anscll; character song and dance —Misses Gwen Smith and June Isaac; pianoforte duct —-Misses P. and A. W cstland; cornet solo. Miss Phillips; Glee Club items —“Viking Song.” “ Vesper Hymn,” “Good-night.” Miss Pearl Westland acted as accompanist. A Highland dance party contributed the following:—Reel o’ Tulloch, Misses A. Ramsay, Millie Baxter, N. Hodge, and Lorraine Ross; Scan triubhais—Misses L. MTherson, Millie Baxter, and Lorraine Ross; Irish jig—Misses A. Ramsay, Margie Baxter, and N. Hodge; sword dance, Miss L. M’Pherson. Mr Hornell was the piper. A vote of thanks was passed to the performers and suitably acknowledged. •
