BALCLUTHA Interschool Games At Balclutha on Tuesday cricket and lawn tennis teams from the Southland Technical School met teams from South Otago High School. South Otago won the cricket match by 154 rims to 108, and the South Otago girl law-n tennis players also won by a small margin. Warm Weather On Monday the thermometer at Balclutha Hospital stood at 82 degrees in the shade, and yesterday the temperature was 75 degree's. Football Club The annual meeting of the Clutha Football Club, held last niglit, wa s well attended. Mr J. H. Guest was in the chair. The balance sheet showed that the club was in a sound position, with, a credit balance of £62 Is 6d. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr C. G. Ram and Ewe Fair Record entries have been received for the Clutha and Matau _A. and P. Society’s ram and ewe fair to be held on the society’s show ground on March 19. The entries total 540, which is nearly 100 more than last year. PALMERSTON Flower Show • Although the local Horticultural Society was unable to hold its annual show this year, a very successful exhibition of flowers was held in the school on Tuesday afternoon. All the entries were collected by the pupils, and there was a parade of pets and fancy dress entrants, led by two youthful bagpipe players, animales ranging from cows to guinea pigs being entered. ALEXANDRA Central Otago Presbytery The quarterly meeting of the Central Otago Presbytery was held at Alexandra on Thursday, liio moderator (the Rev. W. J. Berks) presiding. The Rev. J. M. Patterson, of Roxburgh, was appointed moderator for the ensuing year, and the retiring moderator thanked members for the assistance given him during the year. Elders commissions were received in favour of Dr J. R. Gilmour, of Roxburgh, Mr R. T. Symes, of AlexandraClyde, and Mr George Bell, of Mount Ida. The Rev. R. Chisholm, of Ranfurly, was elected a member of the presbytery on the Advisory Board. The presbytery was invited by the Clutha Presbytery to send a representative to its seventieth anniversary celebrations, and the moderator (the Rev. J. M. Paterson, of Roxburgh) was elected. Correspondence was received from the Home Missions Committee relative to grants and the appointment of a new minister at Arrowtown. The Queenstown and Middleinarch congregations made application for grants for repairs to their respective manses, and Ida Valley made application for a grant for church re-

pairs.—All applications were approved, and ordered to be fomvarded to the proper authorities. The question of holding a missionary rally at Alexandra was discussed, and it was agreed to hold one on June 3, and the minister and session at Alexandra were appointed a committee to make local arrangements. In regard to the recent visit of Miss Jansen, of China, the clerk was instructed to write to the Foreign Missions convener saying that the visit had been appreciated. The next meeting was fixed for the first Thursday in May.
