The various flags of the British Empire make the largest individual group of flags that any nation in history ever possessed. The regulations which govern their use are the most complete flag regulations that have ever existed. Actual loss or damage due to the pollution of the air by smoke causes a loss of 24s a of the population of Salford, Lancashire. This is equal to a total bill of £208,000 a year.
