SMALL BORE RIFLE SHOOTING

RETURNED SOLDIERS' CLUB The annual meeting of the Duendin Returned Soldiers' Small Bore Rifle Club was held last night. Mr W. Goudie (club deputy-captain) was in the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. The annual report and balance sheet (previously published) were adopted. It was decided that a letter of appreciation should be sent to Mr D. H. R°wntree for liis services as president of the club, and his resignation was accepted. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—President, Mr G. H. lerens; club captain. Mr W. Gordon; deputy-cap-tain H X. White; range officer, S. Harvey; assistant range officer, T. Menzies; lumdicJippcr, 0. L. Holden; delegates to the Otago Miniature Rifle Association, Messrs W. Goldie and H. N. White; club committee —Messrs J. Harrison, C. Johnston W. Meikle, C. James, T. Ferens; auditor Mr A. J. Gordon; secretary and treasurer, Mr 0. L. Ferens; assistant secretary. Mr 0. L. Holden. Mr J. Judson suggested that, as a number of members had sons who were interested in rifle shooting, the club should admit these lads as members. The returned soldiers were growing older and the club was in need of new blood.—-Mr Kerens stated that, although there was nothing in the constitution to prevent such lads beino- admitted, the understanding was that only bona fide returned soldiers should be admitted.—lt was decided that Messrs Ferens an Holden approach the Returned Soldiers' Executive on the " iatter ' CONGRATULATORY. Mr Judson moved that a letter of congratulation be sent to Messrs R. Graham and G. Wvllie. members of Messrs Arthur Barnett's Miniature Rifle Club, who had competed successfully at the first New Zealand small bore championship fired recently at Treutham, and who had been included 'iu the Dewar Cup team. OPENING DAY. It was decided to hold the opening day on March 25.
