CONDITIONS IN HAWAII

IMPROVED TRADE OUTLOOK (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, February 24. An improvement in the general outlook in Hawaii was commented upon to-day by Mr Clarence fl. Cooke, president of the Bank of Hawaii, a position which he has hold for 25 years. Mr Cooke is a passenger on board the Franconia. A marked improvement took place last year in the three staple industries of the area, he said. Owing to the action of this growers and canners of pineapples in establishing a co-operative organisation and keeping production to the level of demand the crisis in this industry had passed. There had.been an increase in the tourist traffic. Although the sugar industry kad suffered as a result of the quota imposed by the United States, it was now recovering. This industry was the third main source of revenue in Hawaii.
