Breeze, which arrived on Friday morning from Wellington, sailed early this morning for Timaru and Lyttelton to .complete loading for northern ports. Breeze sailed yesterday morning for Timaru and Lyttelton to complete loading for Wellington, Plcton, Wanganul and New Plymouth. Orepuki, which arrived here on Saturday from Bluff, will sail this evening for Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton to complete loading for Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth. Waipiata will dock at Port Chalmers this morning for cleaning and painting. She will complete loading at Dunedin to-morrow and sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland. Holmdale is. now due here on Wednesday from Wellington and will dock at Port Chalmers for cleaning and painting. She will load at Dunedin on Friday-and sail the same day for Wellington, Picton and Wanganul, via ports. Holmdale is now due at Dunedin on March 2 from Wellington to load general cargo. The Union Company advises that the Waitaki Is to load at Ncwcastlo to-morrow and Sydney on Wednesday for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru and Lyttelton. She is duo at Dunedin on March.s. NGAKUTA LEAVES ADELAIDE. The Union Company advises that the Ngakuta left Adelaide on February 21 with South Australian cargo for discharge at Dunedin and Lyttelton. She Is due at this port on Friday. ARDENVOHR FOR SYDNEY. Tho motor ship Ardenvohr, which was unable to discharge New York cargo on Friday owing to heavy rain, is to sail this evening for Sydney to complete discharge. HURUNUI LEAVES LIVERPOOL. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Hurunul left Liverpool on the afternoon of February 17 for Auckland, Hawke's Bay, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due in New Zealand about March 27. CARGO OF NEWSPRINT. The steamer Flscus left Liverpool, Nova Scotia on February 16 with a cargo of newsprint for Auckland, Wellington, New Plymouth, Wanganul, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. The vessel is due at Auckland about March 30. WIRELESS FROM REMUERA. A wireless message received by the New Zealand Shipping Company from the captain of tho Remuera, en route from Wellington to London, states the weather conditions have been moderate and that all on board are well. The Remuera loft Wellington on February 16. '" WAIRUNA FROM PACIFIC COAST. The Wairuna was due at Apia on February 20 from Pacific coast ports. The vessel is expected to reach Auckland on February 28. GERMAN motor vessel sold. The German motor vessel Neptun was purchased by Messrs Burns, Philp and Company, Limited, of Sydney, on February 5, following a satisfactory examination in dock. She left Sydney on February'9 for Hongkong, with her new officers and crew. . IMPERIAL STAR FOR LONDON. Carrying a full cargo comprising frozen meat and dairy produce, the Blue Star Line's motor ship Imperial Start left Port Chalmers yesterday morning for London, via Panama. She Is expected to reach London on March 25. PORT HUNTER FROM LIVERPOOL. An arrival yesterday was tho Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Hunter, from Liverpool, via Panama, Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She was berthed at the Victoria wharf, where the local portion of her Home cargo will be discharged to-day. The Port Hunter will afterwards proceed to New Plymouth to complete discharge. CANADIAN SCOTTISH IN PORT. The Canadian Government steamer Canadian Scottish arrived at Dunedin yesterday from Halifax, via Panama, Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She was berthed at the Rattray street wharf, where the local portion of her Canadian cargo will be discharged to-day. The Canadian Scottish will also load products, and will sail hence for Bluff to complete loading for New York. Boston and Halifax. H.M.S. DIOMEDE AT LYTTELTON. • H.M.S., Dlomede arrived tn Lyttelton on Thursday evening from Charlotte Sound, and will remain there until to-day, when she will sail for Dunedin. The vessel has aboard Canterbury Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve ratings, who embarked at Wellington, and will remain on board until the vessel arrives at Dunedin. After leaving Auckland the Diomede called at Gisborne, Wellington, and Queen Charlotte Sound. She will go from Lyttelton to Dunedin, thence West Coast Sounds and Wellington, arriving back at Auckland on April 11. STEAMERS RACE TO JAPAN. The passages of the steamers Helmspey and Hayo Maru, which sailed from. Newcastle for Japan on February 4, will be watched with interest. Captain Richards, of the Helmspey, lias made a wager with Captain Ave, of the Ha.vo Maru, that he will be first to arrive at Yokohama. Both vessels are of the tramp type of steamer and can maintain an average speed of 10 knots. Barely an hour and a-half separated the vessels as they cleared Newcastle.

SHIPPING AT AUCKLAND. The shipping entered at Auckland in January totalled 438,612 gros3 tons. As compared with January, 1934, the returns for overseas merchant shipping showed a decrease of one vessel, arid 16,866 gross tons, said Captain Sergeant. On the other hand, there was an Increase of one vessel, and 12,269 gross tons, in intercolonial shipping. The number of large coastal vessels was the same, with a decrease of 8176 gross tons. A summary of the large merchant shipping showed the same number of vessels, but a decrease of 12;773 gross tons. There was an Increase of 84 vessels, and 3712 gross tons, In the returns for local coastal shipping. PASSENGERS FROM ENGLAND.
