In Germany they i.uve a practice of erecting towers to honour the great men of the nation. It is said that there are over 500 Bismarck towers in Germany, but not one of them was built during the lifetime of that statesman, as he did not favour the idea. Heir Hitler, however, has raised no objections, and recently the first Hitler tower was completed at Offenbach, near Frankford-on-the-Main. The work was commenced in 1933 and the monument and look-out tower are nearly 140 feet in height. The cost is not known, but it has been stated that all expenses were met by public subscription.
