Trinity Methodist Church was well filled yesterday afternoon, when Miss Marama Muriwai, a Maori deaconess, was dedicated for work amongst the women and children of. the Maori race. The president of the Methodist Conference (the Rev. J. H. Haslam) conducted the service, and was assisted by the Rev. C. H. Olds and the secretary of the conference (the Rev. W. A. Burley). Miss Muriwai, who was introduced by the Rev. M. A. R. Pratt, spoke of the influence which her mother and the Rev. A. J. Seamer, general superintendent of Maori missions, had had on her, so that, she had offered herself for deaconess work.

The Rev. H. Ryan, of Riccarton, Christchurch, delivered an appropriate address of encouragement to the congregation and the deaconess, emphasising the need of the motive of love in all work amongst the people. A deaconess, he Baid, must love her neighbours, her God and herself. The Central Mission Choir led the singing for the service.
