Soviet Russia comes near to being the writer's paradise. This summer, for example, over 500 writers took holiday in the homes of rest which are maintained by the literary fund. The Government assigned £IOO,OOO to the fund this year. Its main purpose is to help members of the Association of Writers as well as writers just entering the profession. There are branches of the fund, which was started Ifc months ago, in all the national republics of the Soviet Union and the largest cities.
