An elephant was taken captive by a snake near Kottayam (South India). While the elephant was asleep beneath a tree/ the snake coiled itself round its trunk and forelegs so tightly that the animal could not move. It was eventually rescued by a number of men, who killed the snake, which was more than 10ft long.
