Vice-Regal. Their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral and the Lady Bledisloe will pass through "TDunedin this morning on their, way to Inveroargill, and will return tomorrow on their farewell visit to this city.

Sir James Allen, M.L.C., returned from Wellington on Saturday afternoon. Sir Alexander Roberts was a passenger from the north by the express train on Saturday. Sir Walter Stringer arrived in town on Saturday to preside over the sittings of the Military Pensions Appearßqard. Mr David Allan has been appointed honorary Consul for Uruguay at Wellington. Mr H. Hart was a "»passenger for Christehurch by the mid-day express on Saturday. Mr W. M'Kittrick arrived in Dunedin by the express from the south on Saturday. Messrs TV M. Ball and A. G. Begg, of the local staff of the Public Works Department, and Mr S. George, engineer to the Vincent County, left by the second express on Saturday, en route for Auckland, to attend a conference of engineers there.

Mr H. H. Sykes left by the second express on Saturday for Christehurch. Mr John Lang was a passenger by Saturday's mid-day express for Christchurch.

Mr J. S. Hislop was a passenger by the through express on Saturday morning, en route for Wellington. Mr' F, Webb-Jones, editor of the Wanganui Herald, is visiting Dunedin as a member of the Wesleyan Conference. Mr J. R. Wilson, of Tawanui, arrived in Dunedin by the Limited express from the south last night, and will continue his journey, to Wellington this morning. A Press Association cable message from London states that the engagement is announced of Major T. E. G. Nugent to Rosalie, daughter of Brigadier-general the Honourable Charles Willoughby. Mr. W. S. Cranmer, export manager of the Philco Radio and Television Corporation, Philadelphia, arrived in Dunedin yesterday and is staying at the Grand Hotel. A Press Association cable message from London states that Mr Kenneth Pickthorn, the National Conservative, was elected unopposed to Cambridge seat.

Mr J. C, Irons, managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company and the Canadian Pacific Railway at Vancouver, left Auckland for 'Australia last week. He expects to return to New Zealand next month.

Admiral C. Greatorex, formerly director of naval equipment, is a passenger by the Tamaroa, which is due at Auckland on Thursday. He is accompanied by Mrs Greatorex and their two daughters. Admiral Greatorex visited New Zealand over a year ago.

Prior to the commencement of Saturday morning's session of the annual con : ference of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, the president (Mr J. H. Haslam) extended a welcome to the Rev. A. A. Bensley and Mrs Bensley who recently returned from the mission field in the Solomon Islands.

Among the staff changes recommended on Saturday morning by the Stationing Committee to the annual conference of the Methodist Church of New Zealand was the appointment of the Rev. Percy R. Paris, the present minister of St. Kilda Methodist Church, to the pastoral charge of Taranaki Street Church, Wellington, the Rev. T. Skuse, of Stratftfrd, to replace Mr Paris. It was provisionally decided to appoint the Rev. W. J. Oxbrow, who is the present minister of the Te Aroha Church, to the Mornington Methodist Church in place of the Rev. E. T. Cox who, in the meantime, will reside in the circuit without pastoral charge. Mr Mark Fagan has been cjjosen to represent the Legislative Council on the delegation which the New Zealand branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association is sending to London for the July conference. The other three members of the delegation who will represent the Lower House will be selected at a meeting of the branch on Wednesday. All the expenses of the delegation will be paid by the central association itself.

Mr S. E. Manly, of Johannesburg, who arrived in Dunedin on Friday laet, has been renewing acquaintance with friends in this city, and has found the drives in its environment highly interesting. He has already toured a large part of New Zealand, making both the northern and the Milford cruises, and his itinerary has included Nelson and the West Coast, the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers, and the Otira Gorge. Mr Manly is enthusiastic about the scenic attractions of the Dominion. He leaves Dunedin for Queenstown this morning.
