POLICE EVIDENCE
TO THE EDITOR Sir, —In support of what your correspondent " Fair Play " writes I would like to draw his attention to a point he missed which has been puzzling me for some time. Do the police authorities take no action against licensees of hotels for permitting illegal betting unless a complaint goes in? It was mentioned in evidence in one case that the .constable visited a particular hotel because of complaints. What a great time the licensees have who are not complained about! It makes one think of the old saying " Nothing is a sin till it is found out." Why pick on .auy particular licensee? —I am, etc., Britissh Justice.
