THE NEW CUNARDER
FIRE RESISTING QUALITIES LONDON, February 22. (Received Feb. 22, at 5.5 p.m.) • The fire-resisting qualities of the new Cunarder Queen Mary were given a dramatic test. A passenger cabin, fully fitted but coated with fireproof paint, was drenched with 20 gallons of petrol, and a light applied. The petrol blazed furiously, but a slight scorching of the walls was the only damage. It is believed that the Queen Mary will be not only the biggest and fastest, but the safest, vessel afloat.
