TRAGEDY IN SAMOA
WOMAN DIES FROM WOUND CHARGE OF MURDER FOLLOWS APIA, February 21. (Received Feb. 22, at 10 p.m.) A Samoan woman, aged about 50, named Tailesa, of Mutiatele Aleipata, Upolu, while passing through the village of Lealatele Lepa, became involved in an altercation with a small Samoan boy and it is alleged that another Samoan woman intervened, Tailesa receiving a wound in the neck from a small fish spear. . She was cared for at Lealatele, and left there for her home next morning, but was not seen again until found in the bush about half a mile from the village of Saleapaga on February 8. Tailesa, it is stated, was in the habit of wandering into the bush for long periods by herself. She was admitted to Aleipata Hospital on February 10 and died there the following day from the result of a septic wound- in the neck. On February 14 the police arrested a woman named Amio, of Lepa, who was charged in the High Court with murder, and the case was remanded for hearing before Judge Luxford on March 4.
