REGATTA DRESS
10 THE EDITOR
iSir, —The advertisement for the South Island Championship Regatta in this morning’s issue prompts me to write pointing out how lax the athletes oi tin* euy are in the matter of dress for sports occasions. In the north, blazers and “ whites ” seem to be de rigueur for athletic meetings, but in Otago and Southland ordinary business suits are usually worn on all occasions. There is no doubt ttuii : colon--on the part of the men of this city would greatly add to the attractiveness ui uii.se events. Let us therefore look forward to seeing the general public adopting holiday attire for the regatta and the oarsmen and other competitors wearing the championship or New Zealand representative coats, club blazers, representative caps, and club caps— l am, etc., Joseph’s Coat, February 21.
