CRICKET CARNIVAL
The attendance last night at the cricket carnival in the South Dunedin Town Hall was even larger than on the opening night. The various stalls were well patronised, while the numerous side-shows were centres of attraction throughout the evening. ■ The second round of the tug-of-war contest between the ladies’ cricket teams saw some excellent pulls, the results being as follows: —St. George beat Planet B, Grange A beat H. 8., Grange B beat St. Kilda. This evening, which is the final night of the carnival, the semi-final and final will be held, the being as follows:—Grange A v. Grange B, St. George v. Mooney’s. This afternoon a baby show will be held, while a feature for the children will be a fancy dress parade which will assemble at Cargill’s Corner at 2.30 p.m. and march to the hall, lead by pipers. The Waverley Boys’ Brass Band and a special orchestra will provide the incidental music. A burlesque tug-of-war between the Christian Brothers and Dunedin Old “ Girls ” teams should doubtless cause much amusement, and the carnival will be concluded with a sale of all goods on the stalls.
