The address was subscribed for by means of a penny fund to which 54,193 dairy farmers of the Dominion contributed, and the remainder of the fund, the surplus after the costs of the addr'ess had been paid, £IBO, will be used to augment. Lord Bledisloe's Prize Fund at Massey Agricultural College. . The- presentation was made by Mr Arthur Morton, president of the National Dairy Conference. Others who attended were: Messrs F. H. Anderson (Cambridge), F. Parsons (Whenuakura), members of the Executive Conference, J. .Parlane (Christchurch), representing the Dominion Group Herd Testing Federation, •ind'L.-O. The text of the address Is: Your Excellency, the dairy farmers of New Zealand view with sincere regret your Excellency's impending; departure from New Zealand at the completion of the tenure of the high office of. Govenor-General of the Dominion. They feel. that, they cannot allow your Excellency, to-depart without an expression of the regard and esteem in which you are held by aIT those engaged in the dairy industry. Your Excellency's term of office has coincided with the period of unprecedented depression, affecting very gravely the primary industries of the Dominion, and particularly the idairy industry, but throughout the period the dairy' farmers have felt that you, \, as a practical farmer yourself, have thoroughly understood their problems and difficulties, and by your advice and material assistance at all times have encouraged them to meet and overcome those difficulties. Your Excellency has.constantly reminded the farmers of. New, Zealand of the neces-

sity of applying to their operations the latest knowledge that science and . experience, have gained;- ever keeping the one aim before "them—the improvement 'of the quality of their products. Though you are leaving these shores airiid the universal regrets of all classes of the community to whom you have endeared yourself ,by your trieless, ungrudging service, the farmers 1 are. confident that when you reach your home again you will still 'use the intimate knowledge you have gained of the people and the industries of the-Do-minion to promote their welfare so'far as lies in. your power. On behalf of all the dairy, farmers of the Dominion •the executive of . the National. Dajry Conference and of the Dominion Group. Herd-testing Federation,. as;the representatives of' the industry," we desire to convey to your Excellency and. Lady Bledisloe, who has stood nobly,at your side during your most strenuous. period of' office, then^sincere wishes for a sate and pleasant journey to England,, and to express the hope that continued good health^and prosperity.may await you both there. . ...
