KING’S JUBILEE
THE PRINCIPAL CELEBRATIONS IMPRESSIVE CEREMONIAL (British Official ’ Wireless.) (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) RUGBY, February Is. Impressive ceremonial will be observed when on May 9 the King and Queen visit Westminster Hall to receive loyal addresses and congratulations from both Houses of Parliament on the celebration of the .silver jubilee. Members and officials of both Houses, his Majesty’s judges and members of British Parliaments overseas who will then be visiting London will be present to the total number of about 2000. The King’s speech in reply to the addresses will be read by the Lord Chancellor for the House; of Lords and by the Speaker for the House of Commons. The proceedings will be broadcast, and a complete gramophone record will be made. There will be no decorations in Westminster Hall, but the oeautiful roof of tlie chamber, which, despite its great age, is in a splendid state of preservation, will be floodlit. PORTRAIT FOR AUSTRALIA LONDON, February 14. Mr John 'Berne has completed a fullsized , jubilee portrait of his Majesty, commissioned by the Australian Government. The portrait will be shipped to Australia -shortly. The King is in khaki, with a British lion in the background. Mr' Berrie described the King as a perfect sitter. Mr Berrie once protested that kinenms screened old and podr-quality pictures of his Majesty, which was a, national disgrace. He suggests the . use of a new portrait annually.
