VICE-BEQAL. The Governor-General (Lord Bledisloo) was tendered an official farewell at Palmerston North yesterday in the presence of a large gathering of the public and pupils of the primary and secondary schools. His Excellency was presented with an illuminated address and a lithograph of a Maori feast at Remuera in 1844 by the Manawatu A. and P. Association. Ministerial. The Minister of Health (Sir Alexander Young) has intimated to the Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes), a desire to be relieved of the responsibilities of the Employment portfolio, and the appointment of a successor is at present receiving the attention of Mr Forbes. It is expected that the administration of the unemployment problem will be undertaken by the Minister of Education (Mr S. G. Smith), who has had experience of the portfolio. Mr J. J. Marlow travelled by yesterday’s express from Dunedin to Christchurch. Mr H. Jones was a passenger by yesterday’s express for the north, on his return to Auckland. Mr J. D. Hunter travelled by yesterday’s express from Dunedin to Timaru. Mr A. Holmes left Dunedin by yesterday’s express on his return to Christchurch. Mr Nelson Stewart, who has been on a visit to Dunedin, was passenger by yesterday’s express for the’ north, on his return to Auckland. . . . , Mr Maurice Gillon has been appointed supervisor of Hansard, the parliamentary publication which records the speeches of members of the Legislature. _Mr Gillen, who has been acting supervisor during the past two years and a-half, is a son of Mr E. T. Gillon, a former editor of the Evening Post. _ Dr F. P. Keppel (president of the Carnegie Corporation of New York) was the guest of the University Club at luncheon yesterday. Mrs Kenpel was similarly enitertained at the Women s Club, and in the evening they were the guests of Lady Sidey at her home, " Corstorphme.” The visitors will visit the Library and the Art*Gallery this morning, and will be the guests of honour at a luncheon party at Upner Stmlholme House. Messrs S. G. Kirby, W. J. M'lnnes, and L M. Satterthwaite (Otago delegates to the Accountants’ Convention to be held in Auckland next week) will leave by the through express to-day for the north. The other delegate (Mr E. R. Grace) travelled bv yesterday’s tram.
