PICNIC AT POUNAWEA
A OCCASION \ Over .600: .people from the Catling, and adjoining districts attended, the: Farmers Union picnic at Pounawea on Saturday afternoon. ' Weather conditions, .were ideal, and a large committee, representative of local branches of the'Womens Division of the Farmers' Union, anU the Farmers' Union itself, provided aii attractive and interesting programme of spbrt- : ing and • novelty events.: The improved facilities for recreation .at this popular watering place were greatly appreciated: Much of the"credit for the success of the gathering was due to the secretary of tire committee; Mr- Peter Laughton, directed the energies of a large band of helpers.
