THE FIRE MENACE
RESIDENCES THREATENED (Per United Press Association) FOXTON, February 2. Residences by the river and foreshore at Foxton Beach were threatened with destruction by fire last night when two fires occurred, one at 9 o'clock and the other at 2 a.m. The occupants escaped in their night attire. There was no water supply, and the vegetation was tinder dry, but fortunately the night was calm, and beaters were able to cope with the spread of the flames. The cause ig unknown. /
