FUNDAMENTALISM
TO THE EDITOR Sib, —In reading the letter oi my friend “ Maran-atha ” on the above subject in Wednesday’s Daily Times I was reminded of the one occasion in the whole Bible where the Almighty says He will do ,“a marvellous work. It is still future, when the multitude ,of nations will lay siege against Jerusalem. “Stay yourselves and wonder. . . For the Lord hath ■ poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes; and the vision of all is become unto you as the ' words of a book that healed. . ... Wherefore the Lord said . . . their fear toward Me is taught of the precept of men, therefore, behold I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this 1 people, even a marvellous work and a wonder; for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish.” Chapter 29 of Isaiah concludes as follows:—“Therefore thus saith the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale, but when he seeth his children, the work of My hands” (that is, the nation and the com-, pany of nations promised) “they shall sanctify My name and shall fear the God of Israel. They also that erred inspirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.” I would like to join hands with “ Maranatha” in proclaiming that the sands of time are now running out very fast; and the one important' thing above all others is the preaching and teaching of Messiah’s speedy return and the coming of His Kingdom in the earth—l am, etc., G.
