Mr James Fletcher left by the second express yesterday morning, en route to Wellington and Auckland. Mr W. G. Turner was a passenger uy the second express yesterday morning, en route to Wellington. Mr J. Sawers, of the head office staff of the Railways Department, left by the second express yesterday morning on his return to Wellington. < Padre H. Leggate, of Wellington, organiser for Toe H, left for Christchurch by the express yesterday morning. Most of the northern delegates to the Presbyterian General Assembly left by the express yesterday morning on their return home. Among the passengers by the Ruahine from London was Mr R. Alerrett Wilkinson (of Messrs Wilkinson and Son), who, with his wife, has spent the last few months in Great Britain. The Rev. Norman Oakley arrived at Wellington by the lonic on Thursday, and is spending a few days with his relatives at Methven before coming on to Dunedin. Mr Oakley is the ministerelect of the North-East'Valley Presbyterian Church. # Lieutenants D. H. Graham and A. Klee, of R Squadron, Legion of Frontiersmen, Dunedin, and several troopers will leave to-day for Timaru, where they will be the guests of the Timaru Troop this evening. Lieutenant Graham will give a lantern lecture on the aims and history of the legion. A Press Association cable message from Melbourne states that Mr James Gilbert Mann, aged 21, the elder son of Mr Justice Sir Frederick Mann, has been chosen as the Vi dorian Rhodes Scholar for 1935. Mr W. M'Hardy Forman, managing director of General Motors New Zealand, Ltd., who is making a business trip to the United States and Great Britain, will leave Auckland to-day-by the Mariposa for Los Angeles. . Sir. Alan Anderson, chairman of managers of the Orient Line, and a director of the Bank of England, arrived in Christchurch from Wellington on Thursday, and left later for Oamaru. After visiting the Hermitage, Sir Alan will return to Wellington on Monday night. Senior Sergeant D. A. Mac Lean has been promoted to the rank of sub-inspec-tor as from December 1, and will be transferred to Christchurch. Senior Sergeant Mac Lean joined the Police horce at Christchurch in 1905, and after being stationed successively at Timaru and Russell, was promoted to the rank ol sergeant in 1917. Two years in Eapier followed and he was then transferred to Waihi, with the rank of senior sergeant. He remained in Waihi for four years/ and was then stationed for a brief period in Gisborne before being sent to Wanganui, After a stay of three years in that district he was transferred to Dunedin, where he took over duty in October, 1932. Dr Wolfram Penseler has resigned his position as engineer to Investigations, Ltd., and British Developments, Ltd., and has accepted a similar position with Austral Malay Gold, Alining Company, Ltd.
