RATIONED TEACHERS
FIVE PER CENT. SALARY INCREASE (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 15. Cabinet lias decided to grant the h per cent, increase in pay in respect of rationed teachers as from August 1 last. An announcement to this effect was made by the Minister of Education (Mr R. Masters) prior to his departure for Australia this evening. The annual rate of payment was increased from £OO to £72 as* from August 1, and the o per cent, increase had been paid on the lower rate from April 1 to July ,'il only. The Minister explained that the present Cabinet decision would mean that the 5 per cent, increase would now apply to the higher rate of pay approved of as from August. The money would be paid through the education boards as soon as the salary schedules were prepared and passed for payment.
