Ministerial, The Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes) 114 ft Wellington for the south last evening. Mr C. A. Berendson, of Invercargill, arrived in Dunedin yesterday morning by the through express. Mr C. V. Dayus arrived in Dunedin by yesterday’s express from Invercaragill. Colonel S. C. P. Nicolls left Dunedin by yesterday’s express on his return to Christchurch, The Rev. D, D. MacLachlan and the Rev. W. G. Hannah returned to Gore yesterday. Mr R. T. Simpson left by the express yesterday morning to connect with the Mariposa at Auckland, en route to America and England. Captain S. M. Satterthwaite, of the New Zealand Staff Corps, travelled to Oamaru yesterday by the express for the north, Mr H. Olsen was a passenger by yesterday’s through express for the north, en route for Auckland. Mr W. R. Patrick, of the Christchurch branch of the National Mutual Life Association, has been granted a transfer to Invercargill to enable him to accept a position as coach to the Southland Cricket Association. An arrival at Wellington frpm England by the lonic yesterday was Dr W. Traill Thomson. _ Dr Thomson left the Waitaki Boys’ High School in 1898, and entered Otago University, subsequently qualifying at King’s College Hospital, London. During the war he was a captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps. He then practised at Leamington until about four years ago, when he sold his practice and went to live in Warwickshire. Dr Thomson left New Zealand in 1899, and has not been back since then* Last year he was presented with the Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem by the King.
