The Prince of Wales will next month visit Durham to inspect the work done for the unemployed by local. councils of the social service. Sir J. Jarvis, hijjii sheriff of Surrey, who is promoting a schemei for the "adoption" of distressed areas by more prosperous counties, has already received subscriptions amounting to £20,000 to help on the work. The first "adoption" is that of Jarrow-on-Tyne by the county of Surrey.
