PERSONAL Mr and Sirs L. F. Smith, who have been on a holiday visit to Auckland and Wellington, returned to Port Chalmers last week. ', QUEEN'S DRIVE BOATING CLUB The official opening, of the Queen's Drive Boating Club, which was fixed for Saturday afternoon, has been postponed until next Saturday. CHIMNEY FIRE A chimney fire in a dwelling in Bellevue place required the attention of the Port Chalmers Fire Brigade shortly after noon on Saturday. No damage was ■done. ■ . CONVENT GARDEN PARTY A garden party arranged'by the ladies of St. Mary's Church was held on Saturday afternoon. The unfavourable weather interfered with the arrangements, and it was necessary to hold the fete in the Convent School rooms. There was a large attendance, and all present spent an enjoyable afternoon. A feature of the party was the display of dancing and exercises given by the children. Games were also indulged in, and a general stall and refreshment room were well patronised.
