CIGARS IN SOCKS
When Cyril Bond, aged 54, transport ■worker, of Gravesend, and Hassen Alice, aged 35, hatch master in the steamship Yorkshire, were charged at Grays, Essex, lately with dealing in uncustomed cigars with intent to avoid duty, Bond was stated to have had 50 cigars hidden in the tops of his socks. Alice was said to have supplied the cigars. Bond was fined £3 3s lOd, double value and duty, and Alice £1 Ils lid.
