FURTHERING LIFE SAVING

VISIT OF MR LOCK. Mr H. H. Lock, who holds the position of chairman of the London Central Executive of the Royal Life Saving Society, is expected in Dunedin by tomorrow night’s train from Christchurch. Mr Lock is visiting all the Dominion centres on his way to Melbourne, and will have Ynany interesting questions to discuss with the local executive of the Otago Head Centre of the Royal Life Saving Society. It is just on 25 years since Mr William Henry, the founder of the society in London, visited Dunedin and established a branch here. Mr Lock will be met by the local executive on Monday, and the morning will be spent in showing him the beauty spots in and around Dunedin. In the afternoon Mr Lock will witness a display by the St. Clair Surf Life Saving Club on the St. Clair Beach, and in the evening lie will attend a general meeting of the Royal Life Saving Society (Otago Head Centre) in the Y.M.C.A., and will address the meeting. It is anticipated that all who are interested or have been interested in the work of the Royal Life Saving Society will be present at the St. Clair Club’s function, as well as the evening meeting, in order to meet Mr Lock and hear something of the work of the society in other parts of the world. Mr Lock will address the pupils of the Otago Boys’ High School, the Technical College and the Otago Girls’ High School (if time permits) before he leaves for Wellington on Tuesday. •
