AMUNDSEN’S ESTATE
£3OO DEPOSIT Roald Amundsen, of Appegaard, Norway, the famous explorer, who died “ in the month of June, 1928, in the Arctic Regions,” when in search of General Nobile and the ill-fated Italian airship, left estate in England valued at £349 2s 6d. He died intestate and letteis of administration have been granted lo the Consul-General for Norway. The latter made the following statement: —“ I think Amundsen must have placed about £3OO in the bank a good many years ago and then have forgotten all about it. At any rate, the existence of the money only came to light after the explorer’s death. The Midland Bank, with which the money was deposited, then notified Mr Amundsen’s relations in Norway.”
