TO THE EDITOB Sir, —“ Profanum Vulgus” said in his first letter that the Rev. W. W. AverilJ was stating “ what is positively not true.” I challenged him by replying that it was obvious to any ordinary reader that the reverend gentleman was indeed speaking the truth. As he now withdraws his charge against Mr Averill I am satisfied, and do not mind the vituperations he pours out on me. —I am, etc., October 17. G. Steel.
