Mr William Beard, of Oakley, one of Bedfordshire’s dry villages, has discovered water-divining powers at the age of 82. A plentiful supply of water has been found, at a depth of 18ft, in awell sunk on a site selected by Mr Beard with the aid of a hazel twig.
