PROSPECTS FOR TO-DAY
(Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, October 19. The very heavy rain this morning has definitely softened the Trentham track for to-morrow’s racing, and this, with several scratchings, has somewhat changed the previous anticipations. ' The two-year-old races have dwindled still further, and there will now be no place betting in the Taita Handicap, while Galilee’s absence ■is very disappointing. The weather prospects for to-morrow are betterand it will not take much drying to bring back good going. At the worst, unless further rain falls, it will be soft and slow. . The training operations have been singularly uninformative, but there was one impressive galloper this morning, and that was Cherry King. He is likely to start in the concluding event, in which there is every chance that Synagogue will pot run. His trainer desires to give him only one race at the meeting, and will probably keep him in the stable until Monday. . , , T T Riding engagements include: —L. J. Ellis —Spiral, Palermo, Vintage.
