Ministerial, A Press Association telegram from Wellington states that the Prime Minister and Mrs Forbes will leave Wellington for the south this evening. They will attend the Woodend School jubilee on Saturday, and the Eangiora races bn Monday. Mr J. MacGregor, M.L.C., returned from the north by the express yesterday afternoon. Mr R. Philman-Holmes will leave on his return to the north this morning. Mr James Begg travelled _ by the through express yesterday on his way to Wellington. Mr Mark Hanan left yesterday by the through express, eh route to Wellington. Mr S. Pitt left by the through express yesterday on a business visit to Wellington. Mr P. J. O’Regan left on his return to Wellington by yesterday’s express. Mr F. Moncur, general manager for New Zealand of the Canadian Tyre and Rubber Company, travelled north by the express yesterday. Mr H. V. Thorne, who has been on the staff of the South British Insurance Company, Christchurch, for _ the last seven years, has received notice of his transfer to Johannesburg, South Africa. He will leave Christchurch on October 24. ■ A Press Association cable message from Perth states that the Premier of Western Australia (Mr P. Collier) sailed for New Zealand yesterday on a health trip. He may continue on to Vancouver if his health does not improve. The members of the New Zealand Railways Board—Mr H. H. Sterling (chairman), Sir oames Gunson, Messrs G. W. Reid and D. Reese—with MrE. Casey, acting general manager of railways, received a deputation yesterday morning from members of the Otago Harbour Board and representatives of shipping companies to discuss matters connected with the linking up of Victoria wharf with the railway service. Other deputations were also received, but were heard in private. The members of the board left by the goods train at 9.50 last night for Christchurch. The Otago Boys’ and Girls’ High School Board has appointed Mr 0. J. Begg to succeed Mr F. H. Campbell as manager of the rectory boarding house connected with the school. Mr Campbell, who will retire on superannuation at the end of the year, has been teaching at the boys’ school for the past 41 years and has held the position of manager of the rectory for 26 years. Mr Begg is also on the teaching staff of the Toys’ school. He was appointed in 1915, this being his first engagement on a teaching staff.
