RAILWAY WORKING ACCOUNT

FOUR-WEEKLY PERIOD

(Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 18. The Railway Working Account for the four-weekly period ended September 15, 1934, is as follows:

The total .revenue from April 1 to September 15, 1934 was £2,807,177, the total expenditure was £2,472,603, and the net revenue was £334,574. The totals for the corresponding period last year were: Revenue £2,631,399, expenditure' £2,352,609, net revenue £278,790.

MINING NEWS KAWARAU RIVER GOLD, LTD. (From Odb Own Correspondent.) LONDON* September. 14. Arrangements are being made in London for the issue •of 3,100,000 shares of •2s each at par in Kawarau River Gold, Ltd. This company is being formed with a total capital of £450,000, comprising 4,500,000 ’2s shares (1,400,000 shares will be allotted as. part of . the purchase consideration), to acquire the rights to extract gold from the Kawarau River,' in the province of Otago. The directorate will be. presided over by Mr F. Allen, chairman of the Ariston Gold Mines (1929), Ltd. After damming the river it is estimated that the company will be able to dredge the river bed foi two and a-half months in each year.
